Highlands and Islands MSP Donald Cameron has warmly welcomed news that more than twenty shops in Campbeltown are to benefit from Argyll and Bute Council’s Shopfront Improvement Scheme. The shops will receive funding to improve the external parts of their premises.
Mr Cameron, who submitted a motion to the Scottish Parliament highlighting the investment, said: “Some £7m has been invested in Campbeltown in recent years through various schemes and I am delighted that this new investment will build on what has already been achieved.
“The importance of this kind of work cannot be overstated as it helps to bolster confidence in the local economy which, in turn, encourages further investment.
“Creating a sustainable future for our smaller communities, which means creating opportunities for businesses and our younger people, should be our number one priority and this is just one of a number of steps we need to take to secure that future.”
